Coastal Livelihoods Adaptation Project (CLAP)
The CLAP project was implemented in Taltoli Upazila of Barguna districts from January, 2012 to November 2016.
The main objectives of the project were
- Climate resilient agricultural production systems and income generating measures facilitated and promoted among targeted population.
- Livelihoods and means of production prioritized and restored and through non-farm initiatives.
- Targeted population well protected and managed to response climatic induced disasters.
- Disaster prevention and disaster risk management introduced in targeted schools with clear focus on climate change adaptation.
In order to meet the objectives, the project has improved the lives and livelihoods of 10,000 households. The main inputs in the project were, (a) Developing Model Climate Smart Agricultural initiatives, (b) Developing Model Farms on Poultry, Goat Rearing, Pond Fish Farming, Duck Rearing, Vegetable Farming, Vermi Compost production, Crab Culture. The project provided necessary technical skills training and financial supports for developing projects by the project clients, including purchase of climate resilient seeds purchase, poultry chicks purchase, and purchase of other necessary equipment and other necessary inputs.
