Out of School Children’s Activities
A report of the Directorate of Primary Education shows that current dropout rate of primary school children Bangladesh is about 18.4% and never enrolled rate is about 2%. It is estimated that there are about 2.8 million out of school children of 8-14 years age group throughout Bangladesh. The GoB has taken various steps to provide primary education to all children of school going age, but due to poor socio-economic status of their parents/guardians and geographical specificities a significant number of children are dropped out and never enrolled in the primary schools.
Resource Development Foundation (RDF) has been implementing this Activities me as an Implementing Support Agency (ISA) with estimated 12600 children by the syllabus of NCTB curriculum for Barguna including 04 Upazilas (Amtali, Patharghata, Taltali and Barguna Sadar), Out of school children’s Activities aims to provide primary education through a flexible non-Formal system to 1 million out of school children of 8-14 years age group and bring to team into the mainstream of formal education system. This Activities will be operated under the overall structure of Bureau of Non-Formal Education (BNFE). In the present situation of the project, RDF has provided the educational and materials (Book, pencil, sharpener, eraser, white paper, school bag, uniform, ID Card &entertainment equipments) supports at free of cost to a number of 8,400 students (Boys: 4848 & Girls: 3552) through 280 education centre covering the BargunaSadar, Amtali, Taltoli and Patharghataupazilas under Barguna district. The total numbers of 320 staffs have been working under this Activities. The students delighted getting these supports and now they are eager to go to school regularly.
